How It Works

Start tracking your game in seconds

1

Enter Team Names

Optional but helpful. Leave blank for "Home" and "Away" defaults.

2

Choose Your Format

Select Flag, Pop Warner, High School, College, NFL, or create a custom format with your own quarter lengths.

3

Start the Clock

Tap TD, FG, or Safety to score. Use the game clock and play clock controls to manage time. Track downs and distance.

4

Track Downs, Penalties & Timeouts

Mark 1st through 4th down with automatic first-down detection, log penalties by type and yards, and burn timeouts per half with visual pips showing what each team has left.

5

Handle Halftime, Overtime & Final

The scoreboard manages quarter transitions, PAT/2-point conversion flow, halftime, and optional overtime. Your game state saves locally so you can close the tab and resume.

A Football Scoreboard for Every Level of the Game

From Saturday-morning flag football to Friday-night lights

American football is a scorekeeper's nightmare: a game clock, a play clock, down and distance, field position, timeouts per half, penalties with yardage, and two-point conversion attempts that branch off every touchdown. Keeping all of that in a spiral notebook on a clipboard is how scorers miss plays, double-count fouls, or lose track of which team has the ball.

Our online football scoreboard runs the whole game from one screen. The game clock and the play clock tick independently. Touchdowns automatically prompt for PAT or 2-point. Down and distance updates as you log yardage. Penalties get tagged by type and yards. Timeouts show as pips that fade as each team burns them. Nothing to install, no login, works on any phone, tablet, or laptop — even offline once the page loads. If you're comparing browser-based scorekeepers across sports, read our guide to digital scorekeepers for basketball, tennis, soccer, and more.

Flag Football

Rec-league flag, 5v5 or 7v7. Short halves, no play clock required, simple TD scoring.

Pop Warner & Youth

4×8-minute quarters, stricter penalty tracking, and easy undo for when a ref waves off a play.

High School (Friday Lights)

4×12-minute quarters with play clock, down & distance, penalty log, and overtime support.

College Club & Intramural

Student-run games that still need legitimate scorekeeping, not a shouted running total.

NFL-Format Pickup Leagues

Sunday-league enthusiasts running full 4×15-minute games on a community field.

Coaches on the Sideline

Assistant coach tracks downs and play clock on a tablet while the head coach calls the play.

Parents in the Stands

Mom, dad, or a grandparent who just wants to keep accurate score and not miss the conversion.

Press Box & Film Crews

Full-screen the scoreboard on a laptop or projector for the press box or a film overlay.

Flag Football Tournaments

Run multiple concurrent games on different tablets — each saves state independently.

Referee Crews

Back-judge or field-judge keeps the official score, time, and penalty log in one place.

Custom-Format Games

Unusual rules? Set your own quarters and minute-length and the clock adapts.

Phone on the Bench

Throw it in airplane mode once loaded — the scoreboard keeps running with no signal.

Frequently Asked Questions

What coaches, refs, and parents ask before kickoff

Is this football scoreboard free?

Yes — the online football scoreboard is free to use. Track scores, game clock, play clock, downs, penalties, and timeouts with no signup and no download required. Optional paid plans exist for teams who want cloud sync and saved rosters, but the core scoreboard does not require a subscription.

What football formats does it support?

Flag Football (2×20 min), Pop Warner (4×8 min), High School (4×12 min), College (4×15 min), NFL (4×15 min), and fully custom formats where you set the number of quarters and minutes.

Does it handle PAT and 2-point conversions?

Yes. Tap TD and the scoreboard prompts you for the PAT/2-point choice. The attempt logs as made or missed, and the score updates accordingly.

Can I track down and distance?

Yes. The scoreboard tracks 1st through 4th down with automatic first-down detection, turnovers on downs, and field position. Tap through each play to update yardage.

Does the play clock work automatically?

You can enable the 25s/40s play clock in the setup form. It starts automatically when the game clock runs and warns you when it hits 5 seconds. Disable it for flag football or rec games that don't enforce it.

Can I use this on a phone courtside?

Absolutely. The scoreboard is fully responsive and works on phones, tablets, and desktops. Use it on the sideline on your phone, on a tablet in the press box, or full-screen it on a laptop connected to a projector.

Does the football scoreboard work offline?

Yes. Once the page is loaded, the scoreboard runs entirely offline. Your game state is saved locally, so even if you lose connection during a game your scores are preserved.

Can I resume a game later?

Yes. If you close the tab or lose connection mid-game, open the scoreboard again and you'll see a Game In Progress banner. Tap Resume to pick up from the exact clock, score, and down you left.

What can I count for you today?
