How do NHL shootout rules work in the tracker?

NHL preset: three shooters a side, alternating, then sudden death — and no skater shoots twice until every eligible skater has gone. The tracker suggests the correct next shooter each round (you can always override), and calls the shootout the moment it's mathematically decided.

Are IIHF / international shootout rules different?

Yes, in two ways the tracker enforces: the initial phase is five different shooters, and the tie-break REVERSES the shooting order — plus the same player may shoot every tie-break round. Pick the IIHF preset and both behaviors are automatic.

Can I track an in-game penalty shot, not just shootouts?

Use practice mode for one-off attempts: pick the shooter, tap where the shot went, record the result. Every attempt still feeds the per-player stats and placement map.

How do I record where the shot went?

Tap the spot on the hockey-net graphic — top shelf, glove side, blocker side, five-hole, wide, or off the post. The tracker stores the exact spot and zone, and builds a placement map per shooter.

Can I use my hockey team roster?

Pro accounts can load saved hockey rosters straight into a shootout or practice session — the same rosters used by the hockey scorekeeper. You can also just type shooter names and numbers in seconds.

How do I unlock the Penalty Shot Tracker?

It's a Pro tool. Unlock it with a Pro subscription, or with a one-time 24-hour Day Pass if you just need it for tonight's game — both offered right on the tracker page, and a Day Pass takes you straight back into your game after checkout.

Does it work offline at the rink?

Yes. Once the tracker is unlocked and the page has loaded, it runs entirely in your browser and saves to your device — no signal needed rink-side.
