Coach Greg Tanaka
Sports Officiating & Scorekeeping Specialist
Former high-school athletic director and certified official; now consults on rules-of-game implementation in browser-based scorekeepers.
Greg ran a public high-school athletic department for eleven years before going independent in 2020. He still officiates basketball and soccer most weekends and brings that working-referee sensibility to his consulting practice — he is the person product teams call when their basketball scorekeeper handles team fouls correctly but breaks on the bonus rule, or when their soccer clock counts up but does not handle stoppage time the way the laws actually read.
He writes for coaches, parents, and anyone who has tried to keep score with a flip-phone in one hand and a clipboard in the other.
